Vermont EMS,
On behalf of the Vermont Department of Health and the State EMS office team, I wish you all a happy and healthy EMS week. A simple email cannot do justice to the dedication each of you contributes toward our success, but it is important today that all of you know you are recognized and appreciated.
>From the new providers who dedicate time, money and effort to initiate themselves and infuse new energy and enthusiasm into our ranks; to the steady cadre of veteran EMRs, EMTs, AEMTs and Paramedics that not only distinguish themselves every day by providing excellent care, but also take the time to mentor, educate and innovate our system toward success, Vermont EMS is an extension of the excellence of all of its contributors. This EMS week our office would like to celebrate the great dedication, achievement and continued success of all our providers and extend a debt of gratitude for all that you do. I am honored to be associated with such a dedicated and committed group of individuals.
EMS week is also a time to recognize the contributions of the great many partners that enhance our system. From the firefighters and law enforcement officers who stand with us in the trenches, to the nurses and physicians who link us to the chain of survival, we know that our system could not be great without you.
In the last year we have experienced unprecedented collaboration and we should celebrate how a common vision has brought us together. Although the future of EMS poses a great many challenges, our true strength comes from a unified voice speaking on behalf of the wellbeing our patients. I look forward in the next year to strengthening those partnerships, building new collaborations and working together to take Vermont EMS to even greater heights.
In addition to celebrating collective success this EMS week, we would also like to recognize individual achievement. Each year our EMS awards are selected from statewide nominations and reflect the best that our EMS system has to offer. It is my great pleasure to announce the following 2019 EMS award winners:
First Responder Service of the Year - Hinesburg Fire Department
Ambulance Service of the Year - Bennington Rescue
BLS Provider of the Year - Chris Jakubiak
ALS Provider of the Year (AEMT) - Anthony Simanskas
ALS Provider of the Year (Paramedic) - Colleen Nesto
EMS for Children Champion - Kate Soons
Educator of the Year - Keith Hermiz
EMS Lifetime Award - Patty Meyer
Congratulations to all the award winners and thank you for all those who submitted nominations.
Once again on behalf of the Vermont Department of Health, thank you for all your efforts. Any success we have as a system is truly a victory on your behalf. I hope we can all take this EMS week to appreciate each other's contributions, reflect on our achievements and most of all say thank you to everyone who works to make Vermont EMS great.
I wish you all a great EMS week.
Sincerely,
Dan Batsie
