The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) is seeking someone with exceptional skills in community organization and a passion for substance abuse prevention. The ideal candidate will have experience in community mobilization, strong interpersonal and communication skills and a background in substance abuse prevention or public health.
Specific duties of the Substance Abuse Prevention Consultant will include:

  *   Providing technical assistance to communities and substance abuse prevention coalitions.
  *   Promoting statewide awareness and communication campaigns, such as Vermont's Most Dangerous Leftovers, ParentUP, and Alcohol Awareness Month.
  *   Supporting school-based program coordinators and local law enforcement agencies in implementation of substance abuse prevention activities.
  *   Assisting with district-wide action planning, and implementation of strategies to address addiction.
  *   Developing and maintaining relationships with local preferred treatment providers.
The position will be based at the Burlington District office of VDH and focus on promoting substance abuse prevention in Chittenden County.
