Moderated Online Course

Dates
Monday, April 23 ---   Friday, May 4, 2018

Audience
State- and local-level substance abuse prevention practitioners

Description
This moderated online course addresses the role and application of ethics in substance abuse prevention. Using cases and interactive activities, participants will explore the six standards in the Prevention Code of Ethics and learn to use a 4-step decision-making process to assess, address, and evaluate a range of ethical issues. In addition, five discussion forums, facilitated by an experienced course moderator, provide opportunities for participants to apply lessons learned.

What Does Participation Entail?
Over a two-week period, participants are expected to log on to the course website 3-5 times each week to:

  *   Read course content
  *   Complete online activities designed to help you apply what you have learned
  *   Participate in moderated, web-based discussions (i.e., respond to discussion questions, review the responses of fellow participants, and respond to at least one of their comments)

Accreditation
This course is endorsed by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) for Prevention Specialist certification or re-certification. On passing the assessment at the end of this course (80% correct), you will receive a certificate of completion for 6 hours, which you can submit to your respective credentialing authority.
