KEYNOTE: “Are We Making a Difference?
The Changing Landscape of Suicide Prevention”
With old priorities changing and new priorities emerging, it can be difficult to assess national, state and community needs and opportunities. James will share SAMHSA’s expansion to a more lifespan approach to suicide prevention, including federal grant programs allowing for state and community work, impact of legislation, and emerging initiatives. He will discuss the importance of tracking suicidal behavior to show impact over time through different surveillance mechanisms, specifically highlighting work done by the Garrett Lee Smith grantee program, Zero Suicide initiative and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
We are seeking proposals for brief, 10-15 minutes talks to a full symposium audience of over 200 on the topic of "Building Connections for Suicide Prevention Across the Lifespan". Your talk could cover your experience within the pathways to care including lessons learned or advice you want to give. We would like to encourage survivors of suicide loss, survivors of suicide attempts, and professional and community members to submit proposals. Your personal stories and experiences make a difference!
