We are sad to have to say good-bye to Prevention Works VT! Coordinator Lori Augustyniak. Lori has more than twenty years of experience working in the fields of health promotion and prevention. She served as the Coordinator of PW!VT for more than 5 years tirelessly advocating for increased resoures for prevention and giving voice to effective prevention strategies in state work groups, initiaties and legislative policy making. While Lori may have moved on from her position at PW!VT we know she will contiue to be a strong advocate for health in VT!
From Lori: "I appreciate all that each of you has contributed, and will continue to give, to the promotion of health in VT. It really has been a privilege to work with so many compassionate, intelligent and competent prevention professionals for the past 20 years! This work has enhanced my life, helped me raised a substance-free teenager and allowed me to make a difference along the way…prevention will inevitably be my legacy!"
------------
A few parting words from Vermont prevention professionals:
"I appreciate Lori's dedication to supporting the field of prevention. As someone relatively new to this field she was always a great resource to call and bounce ideas off of or get new resources." Jessica Bickford, Coordinator for Healthy Lamoille Valley
"Lori Augustyniak and I started out in the late 90's in the first round of statewide prevention funding (the New Directions grant) that put community coalitions on the map. When struggling community coalitions asked for support, Lori and partners dreamed up Prevention Works to become the coalition of coalitions, and Lori took on the challenge of doing that work. Her leadership at the statewide level has been invaluable, and prevention is now included in every conversation about substance misuse. Thanks, Lori!" Ginny Burley, Central Vermont New Directions Coalition
"Lori has shown incredible dedication to this field and to the work of improving our VT communities - both professionally and personally. I have always been impressed with how she advocated for prevention coalitions to get more resources in her professional role, while in her personal time also reaching out to advocate with her own legislators and community about substance abuse prevention issues. I look up to her as a role model for my own work." Mariah Sanderson, Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community
