Hi Mary,

Have you been in touch with either the Barre or Montpelier Community Justice Center? I’m on the board of the Barre CJC and I know that we’ve done restorative practices in schools here, although I don’t know whether or to what extent the incidents they’ve responded to involved substance violations. I do know that Jeannie McLeod is interested in the nexus of substances and crime (e.g., Treatment Court).

I will follow up. Two school responded that they hoped that restorative justice would become the new norm for treating school substance violations, and no response from one school.

While the entire proposal was noy voted through, as of now, we are working to add more and more restorative practices as we build a foundation to work from. What would you like a copy of? Our fully restorative proposal or what was actually voted through this year?

I am looking for anything that is not punitive in nature and instead responds to the violation as a health issue vs. a disciplinary issue. If you can send me anything that you have or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!
