Dear Workforce Development Partner,

In late July you received a request from Governor Scott and the Vermont Workforce Development Board and to participate in the Vermont Workforce Development Network Mapping Project. That invitation included a unique URL link to create a profile for yourself and/or your organization.

To those of you who have added your information and mapped your connections to other stakeholders in the system - thank you! For those who have not yet participated or mapped your connections, we encourage you to set aside a little time to do so before November 22. If you cannot find the original email invitation, please email sophia.yager at vermont.gov<mailto:sophia.yager at vermont.gov> to get your URL.

Vermont's workforce development system has become more complex in recent years, with more partners providing services and programs that help employers find workers and help workers find employment. As the system expands, keeping track of who provides which services, to which populations, and in what manner can be challenging. This Network Mapping Project aims to visualize the Vermont workforce development system - including over 150 organizations and 750 individuals.

There are lots of ways this Network Map - and the database behind it - can be used to expand your network of colleagues for the benefit of employers and job seekers. Here are a few "Tips and Tricks" for Using the Tool (WATCH THE VIDEO):

* You can click "Map" in the top menu to view the developing network map with all individuals and organizations identified in the workforce development system.

* On the left side of that page is a link to a short video<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X2GSjv7Pnnj8i2r6QGcVmEuPozUliDbZ/view> that outlines tips for using various mapping features and filtering info to easily find what you're looking for. You can filter by Type of Entity; Counties (operating in); Populations (served); and Barriers (to employment). These filters can dramatically reduce the number of dots on the map, making it much more readable and usable!

* Other tips in the video include preventing the points on the map from moving, hiding the left navigation screen, and using the zoom and filter features.

* In the left navigation screen, you can click "Person Map" to view only individuals in the map or "Organization Map" to view only organizations. The "Main Map" shows individuals and organizations.

* Note that if you were asked to participate on behalf of your organization you will have received two separate invitations with two unique URL links: one for yourself as an individual and one for your organization.

Thank you again for taking the time to work on this.

Sincerely,
Vermont State Workforce Development Board Members - Ellen Kahler and Tristan Toleno
